The other week I was invited down to London to spend a fab day with some lovely bloggers to take a peek into some colourful, quirkly and gorgeous homes as part of the the
LivingEtc House Tours with
ao.com I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Friday and I was excited to be inspired by some real life interiors as we hopefully buying our first flat soon *squeal* and I need all the ideas I can get.. also I'm super nosey so this was a perfect day out for me and the first house was just swoon!
After catching up with friends and a very civilised lunch at the Phene in Chelsea we headed to our VIP bus to check out some interior goals. The first property, Blake House, was my absolute dream, situated over three floors and a split mezzanine level bathroom/gym *as you do* the huge industrial windows allowed light to pour into the beautifully furnished space. Unfortunately this was also the only property we weren't allowed to photograph for insurance purposes *boo* but I didn't mind as I was too busy swooning over my current obsession, Crittall windows, also know as steel window frames! You can see them in the lounge below.
The houses we visited were so different that I'm going to do a separate post on the other places that caught my eye, but for now can we just swoon over these brilliant use of crittall steel window frames and how they add a touch of loft style living to your space with these inspirational interiors.
The first thing you notice with all of these spaces is the amount of light created by introducing an internal window. Normally Crittall Windows are at the higher price point when it comes to design decisions, so unless you are getting a small window it can soon add up, however you could consider getting a replica aluminium frame that costs a fraction of the price but with the same stunning effect! Plus with clever positioning an internal window, you can really draw the natural light into your home and create a fab focal point, perfect for basement flats or rooms that see little sun.
What do you think? Would you consider this in your home? I can't wait to share the other homes and see if they inspire you!
*Thanks to ao.com and LivingEtc for the wonderful day and why not take a peek and see if you fancy checking out
tickets for 2017.
