STYLING THE SEASONS WITH WITHIN HOME // SEPTEMBER

It's been a long while since I joined in with the lovely Katy and Charlotte series Styling the Seasons, but with F starting school and change in the air, I couldn't wait to join in and style this beautiful Hemingway Side Table c/o Within Home which has found a place in my lounge.

I love pottering around and generally changing up the flat on a regular basis as I find it eases my urge to move every few months – I'm a restless creature by nature – and it also gives me a chance to rotate all those objects I've collected over the years but somehow never seem to have out on display. I've had my eye on a brushed gold and glass side table for a while now, wanting a surface which is quite neat and can fit into a smallish space but versatile enough to be used in various rooms the mood suits, plus I feel happy knowing the glass is reinforced with a boisterous boy in the house.

So I decided to create a little display/reading area in the corner of our lounge and used it to showcase some of my succulents and other design objects which compliment the gold tones, I also find that a side table with a glass surface is a great way to create the illusion of space especially when set against a plain background.

I used this plate to contain the succulents and cacti, as well as the picture frame and my new Super Globe Squirrel Cage light bulb  – I'm hoping to buy a light cage and fitting for this next month and attempt this Ikea hack to a create reading light in the bedroom. I remember seeing Will's video and thought it would be a good place to start.

I'm always scribbling down notes so this cute notebook comes in handy and I can never resist an excuse to have these Hay Brass scissors on display! I found some leaves from last year in a box and decided to display them in a glass frame to show traces of autumn in an interesting way.
