I've been really lusting for something cosy beneath my feet, I love interesting floor design and my heart always sinks a little when I come home to our beige carpeted lounge which does nothing to hide the multitude of markings made by our four year old.
An easy solution to liven up any room is to pick a stylish rug using either a bold pattern, a block colour, or a rug with an interesting pile. However the old rug on carpet faux pas makes this one a bit tricky for our home. I have a friend who has somehow managed to make it look great by choosing a huge floor rug which covers most of the room, but as I still long for scanidnavian white washed wood flooring in our lounge all I can do is look at these dreamy designs and pin some floor design inspiration.

I love the idea of huge sheepskin rugs in the bedroom to create a cosy feel, especially if I had underfloor heating or a real fire to keep my toes warm in winter, a girl can dream right? For the lounge I have my eye on this Beni rug and I would LOVE one of these colourful Moroccan Bourcherite rugs to really brighten up the room.
For now it looks like I'm going to have to keep saving those pennies and eventually I'll have a space of my very own to design. What's your preference? are you a carpet lover or floorboards all the way?

I love a nice rug - love the circular one at the top - but I usually go for colourful with a bit of pattern - hides all the sticky bits of playdoh better - one day tho, when the kids are all grown up I shall have a lovely pale one like that!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I LOVE all of these pictures!!! My dream house would have wooden floors, the wood burner, built in shelves, the mezzanine... ALL OF THE THINGS!
ReplyDeleteSome lovely rugs there - I am currently after one for our front room but just can't seem to find one I love.
ReplyDeleteI don't love carpets as a general rule, but I do believe that they make a great addition to some spaces and sometimes you just need it to complete a room. I too would love some sheepskin rugs in the bedroom for a cozy touch!
ReplyDeleteWe have vinyl that looks like wood which sort of gives us the best of both worlds. I have my eye on a rung I really want as ours is falling apart
ReplyDeleteLove these options they look so lovely. I am a floorboard and a throw rug girl all the way. I like carpets for the kids rooms only to keep them warmer in the winter. But would love an entire house with no carpets just rugs and lovely floorboards peaking through and gorgeous tiles.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely rugs! Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteI love rugs and we have laminate flooring all through our downstairs so they would be great in winter to make it warmer but I hate the way they gather dust! I don't like taking them outside to shake them off so I end up throwing them away! x
ReplyDeleteI used to have morrocan style rugs like these, made from scrap a of tshirt fabrics. Brilliant andddddd machine washable (on their own on cold)
ReplyDeleteI have laminate at minute just because it's easier with the kids but I prefer carpets or rugs.
