MY MUST HAVE GLAMPING LUXURIES

If you asked me whether I was a camping girl I’ll probably say not so much, growing up in a city then thrown into the midst of the countryside as a teen, my parents were more partial to hotel stays then canvas shelters and so we never really did the whole great outdoors thing. However give me glamping and some little luxuries and I’m all ears.

Don’t get me wrong I’m used to pitching a tent in the rain, negotiating the finer details of guide ropes and mallets, as we do the festival circuit most years, but show me a site where you rock up with only your clothes, wellies and good bottle of red to sip as the sunsets, and we are one family of happy campers.

So far in our travels we have tried various glamping adventures from Ready Camp Tamworth with their fab safari style tents, to the Dordogne, Spanish road trips and the Cornish coast, each and every experience has been truly unique. The beauty of glamping is everything is there when you arrive, think beds, fridge, lights, electricity! *yay* So I thought I’d share five little luxuries to make your glamping experience a special stay.

I always try to bring my own bedding or at least a favourite throw as there’s nothing quite like snuggling down in comfort and this definitely lends to a good nights sleep. I love this Linen bedding, perfect for keeping you cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold.

2. Are you a coffee connoisseur? Does instant granules not quite cut it? Yep I know how important that first sip of caffeine can be, so why not splash out on a ROK Espresso Maker and you can be your own barista in the great outdoors.

3. I’m not a massive one fan of screen time for my kiddo, but there’s something to be said for bringing along a tablet filled with your favourite films or tv shows for those evening you want to snuggle up an unwind if the weather is bad outdoors. For daytime chilling then how about this super cute waterproof bluetooth speaker to play some tunes!

4.  Remember the days of festival shower queues and huge amounts of dry shampoo? Well your glamping experience should certainly have showers on site and I always take my hair straighteners  – with a plug adaptor if abroad – so I can feel and look my best while exploring the nearby area.

5. Want to add a touch of sparkle to your evening? We always bring a set of battery powered festoon and warm glowing fairy lights with us, because let’s face it they make everything a bit more magical. Hot chocolate, a snuggly blanket, laughter and the twinkle of fairy lights …yep this is what I call glamping.

With the car loaded I aways bring along a bottle of bubbly or cocktail mixers as you never know when you’re going to make new friends and if not then it’s still nice to enjoy a bit of luxury. What are your must have items when glamping?

  1. I'm so with you on bringing your own bedding - I didn't think I was a camper at all but glamping, I've discovered, I can do! We do a camping kettle for tea instead of posh coffee, but hot drinks are essential!

  2. Next time I go camping I'm definitely taking my own bedding. Our tent is definitely more functional than glam and I have real trouble getting comfortable! I think having a nice duvet might make all the difference - I hate sleeping bags!
