GO GLAMPING IN THE UK? WE DID WITH READY CAMP

Fancy a night sleeping under the stars? Ever wondered what it would be like to go glamping in the UK? We decided to put it to the test with a weekend away with Ready Camp in Tamworth

We arrived on site to be welcomed by the coolest safari style canvas tents kitted with everything but the kitchen sink! Perfect for a quick weekend getaway. Felix’s face lit up when he saw where we were staying and charged ahead to explore our home for the night, getting stuck into making a den out of the bunk beds with the bedding we brought.
We settled in and said hi to our neighbouring bloggers who were also here for a fun activity weekend before popping on the kettle and chilling on our veranda. I love how Ready Camp have everything set up for your arrival meaning you need to bring very little to enjoy your weekend stay. The weather was on the cooler side when we arrived, but that didn’t stop Felix popping on his eagle costume (don’t ask) and running wild outdoors, which let’s face it, is the whole joy of camping in the first place.

We were soon rounded up to take part in the Tipi challenge where all the kids got release their inner creative by decorating a canvas tipi with various crafty bits and bobs. I may have stepped in to help out a little and we were soon displaying our animal inspired hideaway, ready to be judged by TV’s Katy Hill before tucking into a BBQ feast.

The Ready Camp tents are a great size, so there’s plenty of room to sit around the table and eat as a family, hang out on the sofa, and when you’re ready slip into bed, each with blackout canvas walls so you can keep snoozing even when the sun isn’t.

We woke to the most beautiful sunny day and immediately felt like we had been transported to the Swiss lakes or the South of France, the air filled with the smell of pine trees that lined the lodges and birds tweeted their hearts delight. I was surprised how cosy the stay was and woke slowly, sipping coffee on the veranda, watching the kiddos run around.

There’s a host of places nearby to explore: food markets, Tamworth castle, nature trails, SnowDome as well as a selection of local pubs for a more traditional bite to eat. I can see how families choose to book here for a last minute weekend away from the usual bustle of life.

For me it’s the perfect way to spend quality time as a family, outdoors and closer to nature, especially for a short family break and I had no idea there are so many Ready Camp sites around the UK to choose from.

Do you go camping with your family? What do you think of a Ready Camp stay?
