BEAUTIFUL SCANDINAVIAN STYLE FLOOR INSPIRATION

scandinavian design, scandinavian style, scandinavian living room, choosing the right floor, scandinavian interior, beautiful scandinavian style floor inspiration, floor inspiration, living room, minimal designNow that exciting plans are afoot *pun intended* I am making many mental notes, taking pics and generally pinning like crazy beautiful Scandinavian floor inspiration. Think poured concrete, cool tiles and the lusted after wood floors that I've been dreaming off for oh so long now. Where people might coo and aah over plush furnishings, one of the first thing to get my heart racing is the floor beneath my feet and I can't wait to create a perfect space of our own.

After spending many years in our flat with a sea of carpet, I've come to the conclusion that the years  of wear and tear just doesn't gel well a chils and beige as far as the eye could see. Even though each crayola scribble and super faded spilt hot chocolate mark is a reminder of my mischievous and wonderful kiddo, they are certainly marks I can live without.

Every time we've taken a European city break and lived like a local with airbnb, I've marvelled at this pale hardy wood flooring that lightens these apartments and seemingly creates endless space, all the while being super on trend. So with the possibility of owning our own home, it makes sense to start researching what naturally perfect floor would work for us, and of course dreaming up a moodboard of my ideal lounge.

I didn't realise there were so many choices when it comes to what you walk on. Whether it's a natural solid wood flooring, precision engineered wood flooring, sustainable Bamboo wood flooring or an a slightly more affordable laminate wood floor, the choices seem endless. So I was excited to try out my Scandinavian dream underfoot and see what the Salcombe Chalked Oak from Woodpecker Flooring would be like with it's white hue and ashen undertones. You can see how I've styled it here with complimentary greys and blush pinks, perfect to give that Scandi feel or almost channel that beach house chic vibe. I tried to imagine how it would feel hanging out in a lounge space or a cosy bedroom.

I've been looking to see what living spaces would be like with this sort of colour palette, what do you think of these spaces?

The space we're looking at already has original wood floors but with not in great condition and the fear of loosing the contents of my purse through a crack or the kiddo scraping his knee on a misplaced nail, I would definitely be keen to have a new floor laid.

The next big question is what style would suit the room? A more traditional long plank? A nod to original parquet floors with a chevron or herringbone pattern? The most popular being long boards running perpendicular to the front of your flat to give the look of luxury and space. As a Herringbone bone design can make a space look smaller, it is definitely worth using this only when you have oodles of floor space. However the Chevron floor can provide an interesting design and make small spaces appear larger. Ah decisions decisions...either way I am loving the range and the multitude of colour options and wood grains available to create the perfect floor.

  2. We have laminate in most rooms and carpet upstairs, as we're in a more modern house. When my ship comes in we'll replace the kitchen with stone and the living room with wood. Am liking the look of your plans!

  5. We live in Sweden and have lovely pale white wooden floors downstairs (underfloor heating) and large white and black tiles in the bathroom (again under floor heated). Throughout upstairs we have the white wooden floors. I love them and they are so pretty in the wooden house :-)

  18. we have half carpet, half wood throughout our house. The wooden floor is definitely far lower maintenance and I prefer the way it looks. The only downside is the noise it makes with 3 kids dancing around on it 😂 Xx

  20. I love the light wood flooring, and all those rooms are dreamy. I've been so drawn to very neutral, calm spaces lately...I'm not sure my family is neat enough to ever be able to live like that, but I do really love them.
