HOW TO PUT UP A SHELF WITH STYLE

I always love looking through Pinterest to get ideas and inspiration when it comes to interiors, although I must admit to shying away a little when it comes to making holes in walls for anything larger that a print, although I do remember picking up a masonry drill to fix curtain poles once but *ahem* we won't talk about that... Yep I'm much more into painting, decorating, creating accessories and styling than walking round with a tool belt, but I always love a challenge and rarely say no.

So when British Gypsum invited myself and two other interior bloggers, Sarah Akwisombe and Jen from Love Chic Living, to check out there new Gyproc Habito plasterboard and style up a shelfie for a shoot they were doing I knew it was going to be fun.

What I didn't know was that I would actually by putting up the shelves, myself, on camera....oh yes  this interior lover took one look at the Pinterest worthy shelves that had been supplied for the #shelfie challenge and wondered how on earth I was going to put up a shelf with style without making a mess of their freshly primed walls.

After a few nervous glances and a good peek at every ones props I set to work with my own leather strap shelf. Cue a few attempts at measuring an equal distance and getting handy with the spirit level while trying not to laugh.

Luckily for me the people over at British Gypsum have created the king of all plasterboard's, making drills a thing of the past. The new Gybroc Habito can hold up to 15kg on just one screw and a bit of arm power! All you need is a screw and a screwdriver and it couldn't be easier. Even with a film crew and photographer watching every move I managed to screw in the two leather straps with ease and pop in the plank shelf ready for some fun styling to start. Simple.

As I was tasked with styling a pastel theme I had some pretty cool props to play around with including a porcelain cactus jewellery holder and a Cool to be Kind print *swoon*. What do you think of the final look? I even have a little vlog of the day if you fancy taking a peek.

Easy ay!We obviously celebrated our shelf skills with a bit of bubbly too ;)

It was so easy to put up a shelf and I'd definitely invest in this plasterboard when I renovate my own place. It will definitely save a lot of effort and any DIY disasters.

  1. Love those leather strap shelves - and you cracked it without a hitch! Any jobs involving a drill usually fall to my husband but you've inspired me to get a bit braver on the DIY front myself!

  4. I'm impressed! I never go near shelves because I'm terrified of what I might do to the walls, this plasterboard looks revolutionary! Love the shelf too.
