UPDATE YOUR HOME WITH A DESIGNER SOFA THIS SPRING

GUEST POST

It’s springtime, the time of the year when you should be considering what style update to have in your home.  This week it’s all about luxury designer sofas and what fabulous designer pieces you can add to your concept.  A beautiful contemporary sofa will be the focal point of your living space, whether it is a formal sitting room or relaxing, child-friendly area.   I’ll be going through my top contemporary picks for this season and give you some advice on how they could work in your home.

First up, we have the wonderfully bright Arper Saari 2 seater sofa in orange.  This piece has a retro feel about its silhouette whilst having clean, contemporary lines.  It effortlessly combines hints of times gone by with cool, contemporary chic.  Its sculpted shape shows a wonderful level of craftsmanship and this piece would really stand out in a neutral space and would add a bit of fun and whimsy to a room for children as well as grownups. This is the time of year to be risking a bit of colour in your home – be bold and give it a try.

If, like me, you need all the storage you can get then the Scaffold Sofa by Wewood is the best purchase you could make this season. This multifunctional sofa has a clever shelving system built around the seating to maximise use of space. So its wooden frame can double up as a handy bookcase. Wewood expertly craft elegant, wooden designs and this piece is a lovely example of that.

For classic design with a contemporary twist, choose the Chester One Sofa in white leather by Poltrona Frau.  It’s a fabulous rethinking of the traditional chesterfield and done by simply updating the fabric choice.  This particular model is distinguished by the unique pleating detail on the arms.  Welcome this into your grownup space for some pure leather decadence and a trendy take on tradition.  Poltrona Frau has an amazing range of leathers, coloured and neutral, so maybe put your own spin on the chesterfield and design your own luxury sofa.

My final delightful find is the gorgeous Swell sofa by Normann Copenhagen available at The  Longest Stay. Its lovely form was inspired by the idea of ‘rising bread’. That idea just exudes comfort to me and would be perfect in a family room for you and the kids, whilst still being a superbly stylish sofa. The stitching is perfect and the attention to detail on this piece is fantastic. This is the type of sofa you see that makes you just want to sink into it and stay there for hours.

  1. Wow, it's amazing how much storage they've fit into the scaffold sofa. That looks like a great solution, especially if you have lots of books on the go, which I always do.

  2. I love the idea of having all of that storage, although I'm not sure it would work in my house as we only have room to have our sofa against a wall!! If that last one is as comfy as it looks it would be amazing!
