My folks passed this mirror onto me after I graduated university and it has hung on my walls ever since, keeping me company as I moved across the country, however it's never really fitted in with my style. So rather than ditch it, I decided to show it a bit of love with some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
I have to admit I'm super late to the 'Annie' party, with friends raving about how good it is, but never late than never right?! I decided to use my Loaf Lazy Linen as the base colour for the room and matched it with Paloma, tying the colours in nicely with the grey marble fireplace and white shelving unit.
Once the mirror dried – suprisingly quickly – I decided to rehang it above the bed, leaving space on the mantle for my newly framed Fine Little Day UP poster *swoon* plus it looks great beside these garland lights. To bring in a bit of green into the room, I bought some fresh Hyacinth bulbs and carefully separated them out before potting them in these cute little ceramic planters, one by Atelier Stella and the other a marble effect mug I picked up in the H&M home sale. I've loved watching them bloom and F has been caring for them, whispering to them and giving them sips of water *all the heart eyes*, plus the pots really work well set againts the black frame.

I love how the mirror looks in its new spot and how effortlessly the colour flows from linen to wall, creating a calm vibe where I rest my head. Just by swapping around two small areas, the room has been given a facelift and keeps in with the style I love. If I could only tackle the rest of the room and show it some love!
Are you thinking of giving a room a mini makeover? My top tip is to start by decluttering your chosen space by picking up five object and finding permanant homes for them, leaving your surface clear and you able to visualise your idea better.
To get involved with Styling the Seasons you need to do is share your photographs of your styled surface on any day this month – use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or your blog, if you have one. I feel your pain with the endless quest to declutter and make your home seem 'done'! And wow, the mirror looks amazing. You've actually just inspired me. We have a massive ornate mirror in our living room that I haven't really loved for a good few years now. Might Annie Sloan it!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing, Lori!! The mirror looks so different and works perfectly with the linen (love the colour!). All of it is totally swoonworthy xx
ReplyDeleteThis looks so so good - you've inspired me to paint the frame on our round mirror too. Looks like a really lovely and calm space x
ReplyDeleteOh sooo lovely! Good old Annie Sloan! I am desperate for a bedroom makeover and am pining over some nice linen bedsheets. Those planters are BEAUTIFUL - off for a browse! xo
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I have had plans to Annie Sloan something for so long but am still yet to get round to it. I love the fact you don't need to do any prep work before using it, I hate sanding! x
ReplyDeleteThis is such a simple and pretty little mini makeover, and definitely looks so calming and restful. I'm on that constant quest to make the rooms in our home feel uncluttered and fresh, but I'm thinking I may just need to admit defeat until we move now and start with a clean slate. And I have two little tubs of Annie Sloan just waiting to be put to good use when we do! x
ReplyDeleteOh Lori I love this and what a lovel transformation too for spring. Love little makeovers. I have finally jumped in and joining in the Styling the Seasons this year and loving it these last two months. Love the Annie Sloan paint I have a few tubs I need to use on something hahaha Gorgeous styling as always.
ReplyDeleteGood timing for me as today I'm very much in a declutter frame of mind - I threw out two bags full of junk from my office this morning!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have little ongoing DIY projects but then it can feel like you've never quite finished (but I don't think you ever should really). We recently painted a gold mirror white and it made such a difference - yours is gorgeous! Love your budding hyacinth too, so spring-like! xx
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love what you have done with the mirror - it looks fantastic! I know what you mean about decluttering feeling endless - we are in the process of trying to finish the house which seems never ending. Love your mini make-over
