I've been trying to keep the winter blues away, so when I read this month's Urban Jungle Bloggers theme I knew I wanted to join in. Created by Igor and Judith, Urban Jungle Bloggers is a collaborative monthly series which aims to inspire and create a community of green in the home and beyond.
I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to greens, the leafy foliage doesn't stand a chance once it passes the threshold, until that is, I discovered succulents and cacti. These hardy little plants look beautiful with their pale blue-green hues and architectural shapes and seem to thrive in our flat.
As a huge coffee lover I was excited to combine the two and take time to relax at home. I find that having plants around me quite calming despite the caffeine effect, they also add a special touch to white interiors and look great in ceramic planters.
I own five or six little succulents – which I must find out their names – and a sprawling Aloe Vera which I've been caring for over the last 12 months and I'm always on the look out for beautiful planters. Do you love plants in the home? Do you have green fingers? I'd love to hear any tips on keeping the greens going.
You can join in with Igor and Judith using the hashtag #urbanjunglebloggers
With such a wonderful morning coffee scene accompanied by your succulents, winter blues has no chance! Thank you very much for joining our community!
ReplyDeleteloved joining in and glad I started on my favourite combo! x
DeleteI love how the pale blue lilac of your saucer compliments your succulents so well. It looks so very calming! Welcome to our green family, Lori!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judith! It is very calming for task making. :) x
DeleteLovely photos. I'm terrible with plants, I neglect them to the death. But, I do have an aloe vera plant which simply refuses to die. When we had our kitchen done I rehomed it to the conservatory, forgot about it, discovered it six weeks later and it was brown and dying so I stuck it in the garden and it came back to life. A miracle. It's now back in the conservatory. And probably dead again. Oh god, I've just remembered I didn't water the plants my mum left in there last week, crap. x
ReplyDeleteHaha my Aloe Vera is a hardy thing I must say, I've repotted it twice and almost killed it but it's still growing strong :) Quick go water the plants! x
DeleteLovely shots. Looks like a perfect way to start your day.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I can't function without coffee :) x
DeleteI think your planters are gorgeous... green fingers? Hmm, getting better, thanks to Urban Jungle Bloggers:-)
ReplyDeleteThey from Anthropologie, i'm slowly learning more through Urban Jungle Bloggers. You should check out Lapin Blu's post this month, some great tips there. x

Deleteoh they're lovely! I'm so obsessed with houseplants at the moment and succulents are so beautiful! Love those pots too!
ReplyDeleteThey're great aren't they, these little succulents were from Wilkos for £2! Bargain! x
DeleteGorgeous photos! I have been TRAGIC with plants up until two years ago when we decided we WOULD be gardeners. Laurence is a natural but I've learned a thing or two. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your photos. I've never had any houseplants either, until now. I traveled a lot in my younger days and moved frequently, but since my life has taken a slower pace, I have quickly become obsessed by plants. I have some lovely oddities in my collection like a purple shamrock and a donkey tail, and I just love learning about them and making them happy. Happy growing. :)
ReplyDeleteI love drinking hot drinks in a glass! It makes it such a different experience, I sound like such a weirdo saying that! x
ReplyDeleteI do love Cati - they are so cute and interesting looking. On another note how lovely are your coffee glasses - I need!
