I soon realised I work best in a quiet environment where I wasn't being distracted by 20 something girls chatting about their sun bed sessions in preparation for their Ibiza getaway or young couples navigating their blossoming relationship. So when Paul suggested I buy a desk to work from home I was super excited, what with the free coffee on tap, toys for F and a place to spread out and get stuck in. Thankfully we have an over proportioned bedroom for the size of our flat, allowing the desk to sit in our bay window where there's lots of natural light and the greenery of outside.
I chose a desk with trestle legs with the ability to have the table top flat or tilted, depending on the type of work I'm doing and filled it with things I find inspirational or could use as storage, like these vintage style cases. I always tend to have coffee or fruit beside me when working to keep up my energy levels, as well as a notebook and pencil for jotting down ideas and scheduling projects. Keeping a stack of magazines to hand is also a great way to grab some quick inspiration and of course there is a photo of the the boy himself, who is my whole reason for working from home in the first place.
Having a desk at home is certainly a luxury and sanctuary all in one. I'd love to hear what you have on your desk and what makes your working day fun.
Linking up with the wonderful Love Chic Living Love Your Home linky.
love those mini suitcases!
ReplyDeleteThey're so handy to keep thing tidied away in. x
DeleteSuch a lovely light space and desk. I'm really jealous :-) My current desk is the kitchen table - would love a proper place to work from!
ReplyDeletelove those windows, I lived in a house with shutters like that as a child, brings back memories! I work from home, I can't work in cafes, I've tried but I'm way too easily distracted. My desk faces a wall, deliberately, so I'll get on with it or I'll look out the window into the garden and more distraction will ensue :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your desk, it's beautiful! As is the rest of your home!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous area to work! I'm jealous. I have a small desk in the corner of my living room and both the kids are always pulling the drawers out and messing with my stuff! Plus I usually have them climbing over me, we are hopefully going to moving at the end of the summer though so I will have an office! x
ReplyDeleteMy desk has so many files for medical and school stuff on it at the moment. Thank goodness for a space saving Mac - although the screen is 27" ;)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! You look very organised.
ReplyDeleteI almost dribbled when I saw your desk. I love your mini suit cases. Sadly for me my work space is the dining room table so I spend half my time moving things to and fro to make room for everyone else.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, your desk looks like a great space. Mine is just the dining room table!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely and a very inspiring place.!
ReplyDeleteI love your home you really should do a room tour on the blog soon! x
ReplyDeleteoh i love it and you have it right near a nice window too, my ideal perfection of a desk x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely work space. I work on the couch with my laptop on the arm! x
ReplyDeleteWhat a tidy and immaculate desk you have.I love the colourful suitcase storage cases.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous place, though I would certainly spend my time just gazing outside...! You don't want to see my desk... and as there's so much on it, it's quite difficult to see anyway!! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely work area, I love how light and bright it seems :) x
ReplyDeleteI love the shutters on your windows. That is such a calm place to work
ReplyDeleteWow your working space is gorgeous! I wish I had a dedicated area that was mine - one day!! It looks like a very inspiring place to work. (PS I think our Macbooks would be great friends - mine is exactly the same and can pretty much only work when plugged in...and the battery makes it do weird things like suddenly delete text if I lean on the bottom left corner!!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful space you've created. It looks beautiful. I love that you have enough room to work and be surrounded by fabulous things. A great environment to work in :)
ReplyDeleteLove love love! I crave for my desk to be by a window - there's something creative about being able to glance at the world going by. Alas it's in a dark corner - but not for long as once our extension is done I'll be by a huge bifold door - I cannot wait. Although I could happily steal your entire room ;)
ReplyDeleteI used to have a room at uni with a massive bay window and that is where I put my desk too. It was a lovely place to work but I often got very distracted people watching! It is lovely to have your own space and fill it with the things that inspire you.
ReplyDeleteI love your space and you read two of my favourite magazines :) Frankie and Lionheart :) I love them. Love your diana camera too x
ReplyDeleteWish my desk looked like this instead of a mountain of papers and the odd toy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great work space! I would love to be able to look out to a view like that. Must be very inspirational #loveyourhome
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for entering the comp, and the linky. I have to say, you were on my shortlist of 3 in the end :) #loveyourhome
ReplyDeleteWhat a great work space- the desk is such a good size! I've got a smaller desk and find myself surrounded by books and papers balancing around me! Love the arrangements too- I want that pink camera- cute!
