When I get restless I often find that a small shift in my surroundings helps me focus – a sofa here or a picture there – so as a mini project I wanted to create a corner with this balance in mind, one that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and practical. When my small gold bedside table made its way into the lounge I was keen to find something to compliment it, and my mind immediately turned to concrete planters or vessels and some succulents. Thankfully there are so many great concrete DIY tutorials over on Pinterest, I just need to find time to get my craft on.
What are you making at the moment?
very creative, i would never think that it can looks nice with gold
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea. I never really think of concrete as a medium for home furnishings but it would work so well as a planter or sculpture. It is finding the time to be creative that is the real challenge though!
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought of concrete as an accessory, but it does look really effective, especially with the gold!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so taken with gilding at the moment, but the thought of making my own concrete just makes me think of economies of scale and big bags and the littlest amount I would need!
ReplyDeleteI like the concrete planters but otherwise I'm not so keen on it tbh. I find it quite stark and brutal? I've been designing virtual art lately - logos and images for my new Blog project. It's my birthday at the weekend and I'm hoping for one of those usb drawing pad thingies!
ReplyDeletei've been wanting to make something with concrete for ages! it's surprisingly versatile.

ReplyDeletevery true! I love grey but never thought of using concrete like this! x
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean. There's something about the cracks in the surface that works well with the glint of the gold.

ReplyDeleteThat looks lovely, it's exactly the kind of thing I always want to make but don't dare try with two small kids around!
ReplyDeleteOooh that's really got my interest! I'd not thought of concrete indoors but I totally see where you're coming from. It's not a medium I've worked with before but would love to give it a try.

ReplyDeleteThe plant pots look fab and concrete makes great outdoor/garden accessories but its not for me inside the house I'm afraid. I find it to be quite cold and rough looking *sorry* but I do love the plant pots x
ReplyDeleteThat looks fantastic. That's reminded me I really want to make a spring area.
ReplyDeleteI really love the look and feel of concrete in small amounts such as the planters - there is a real design feel to them, almost Scandi - love it :)
