HARRY POTTER & THE DREAM PET

For the last 5 weeks Harry Potter has been the most talked about subject in our house. Yes the kiddo is obsessed and has been sooooo excited for his HP themed 7th birthday party. Our house has pretty much become a storage facility for all things Hogwarts related: wands, spell books, Nimbus 2000, wanted posters and now thanks to the folks at Petplan we have a Phoenix to add to the mix too!

There has always been one special teddy in Felix life, a small brown beloved little bear from my childhood that I dutifully passed on when his little fingers were strong enough to grab him. He is the comforter at night and bear buddy during the day if needed. But now it look like there's a toy wrestling for 1st place.

Designing his dream pet.
Felix has wanted a dog as long as I can remember, so much so that my parents welcomed a beautiful Labradoodle into the family two years ago to 'share' and they have pretty much been inseparable since. We have discussed the idea several times but getting a dog isn't practical in our rented flat so when pet insurance specialist PetPlan offered to make Felix his dream pet a reality, I was certainly intrigued to see what would happen. The kiddo set about creating his masterpiece, a floppy eared pooch perhaps? Maybe a Dachshund? Nope. Instead he designed a giant flaming Pheonix!

Checking his claws are all ok!
Quick temp check after another bursting into flames scenario.

Thrilled with his new custom made 'pet' Felix is taking his duties seriously and the magical bird has had a few house calls already. What with all of the birds medical needs, setting himself of fire being the most common so far, it's certainly highlighted the responsibility of what a real furry friend could cost, as Felix's hefty vet bills roll! It's good to know that Petplan's Pet Insurance covers a whole range of policies to suit your needs. Something we would consider if the puppy idea becomes a reality.

For now though I think he's quite content with his Phoenix and a snuggle on the sofa.
