I have this thing with windows. Yes I'm a Let there be light type of girl and the more the better. It's no wonder that the last few flats I rented were Georgian with huge sash windows, and the secret of it is I've been thoroughly spoilt. We've been looking on the property market for almost a year now and many a good size space has been give the no-go from me due to its tiny windows or dark shadowy rooms, enough to make Paul roll his eyes for sure.

So in the hopes of creating some wriggle room in my brain I've been trying to come up with alternative ways to let there be light in spaces that I might have previously dismissed, or at least share a bit of light interior inspiration to look back on if we ever actually buy anywhere!

TOP TIPS ON HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH THE NIGHT SKY

If there's one little letter on your camera that you've been avoiding then this is post is for you. For someone who is constantly snapping away it seems a bit ridiculous that manual mode can cause me such anguish, but with cameras and iPhones being all oh so easy to use what with their point and click, I'm the first to admit I've become a bit lazy when it comes to switching to manual mode, especially at night *shudders*. Yep that little M just sitting there all innocent, well if you're like me and changing over to manual is more like photo russian roulette, I have some great tips to share with you.

The other week the lovely people over at Transun invited some bloggers to Cardiff for a Night Photography workshop with Simon, on how to photograph the Northern Lights *cue dreamy sigh* and city night sky. Held at the Chapel, you can picture the scene, a room full of eager bloggers all clutching their Digital SLR's, ready to put some new skills to the test.

WHERE YOU WASH // SMALL BATHROOM INTERIORS

There's one space that always gets neglected in our flat, probably because it's so small with little natural light and that it serves more of a function than a calm space to relax in. Yep the bathroom, it certainly gets a raw deal from us and yet it should be a place of style and tranquility, how often do you read how beneficial a relaxing soak in the tub is or how heavenly a rain shower head looks in those glossy magazines? It's no wonder that I like to take my time when staying at nice hotels, reading in a free standing bath or spending an age in the shower letting my troubles wash away.

Good design should run throughout the home, every space should be thought out, practical and pleasing to the eye, your bathroom should be a haven whether it's used as splash time for the kids or your gentle wake-up morning routine. I've always thought about building my own home, how the bathroom would have great views, light streaming in, a walk in wet room and not to mention a cabinet basin that I can actually use unlike our teeny one. However even a small bathroom can be beautiful with careful planning and so I find myself pinning inspirational interiors for future reference incase I one day renovate my home or buy abroad.

WINDOW INSPIRATION

I've always been lucky enough to live in homes with large windows, flooding the rooms with light and being able to bask in the warmth. I never knew how important light could be until I moved from my georgian flat in London into a basement flat with its dark shadowy rooms, it didn't last long and I soon packed my things in search of a better place to rest my head. Since then windows and light have always been a bit of a deal breaker when hunting for a new home and I've been known to turn flats down or move after only a few months if the windows didn't feel right. Now I'm fortunate enough to live in a georgian period property with huge sash windows and high ceilings, creating a spacious interior.

I could literally spend hours on Pinterest looking at beautiful interiors with gorgeous windows. To make the best use of the light, we have placed our dining table under the sash windows in our lounge, allowing us to have a good view and great light while we enjoy our meal, also F loves watching all the birds and squirrels from the window.
