A SUMMER SMOOTHIE CHEAT

With the heat continuing to evaporate F's appetite, I decided I needed a different approach to lunchtime/snacktime, than racing round the playground after him waving a banana in the air. Then a friend mentioned to me how much they'd been enjoying fruit smoothies and it was a eureka moment! so I set about making a simple summer smoothie that F could enjoy, and I knew was full of goodness and yumminess.

Despite not having a special smoothie making machine, I used my good old hand-held pulser to mush up these ingredients:

1 Banana
A handful of strawberries
2tsp of runny honey
2 big dollops of natural set yoghurt

Simple but effective, I didn't get a look in :)

FUN TIMES AND FOUNTAINS

The sun blazes down upon us, as we peer outwards from sun hats and shady nooks.

Oh how fun and frantic this last week has been: I have partied with my oldest friend, managed deathly hangovers, strolled hand in hand with my boy, ate ice creams without care, cradled glasses of wine on a balmy eve, enjoyed family visits and anxiously waited for news as my dear friend laboured her way through the heatwave to produce another beautiful little boy.

It's been a slight struggle to keep my toddler's temperament happy in this heat, and I've been struggling with F's lack of appetite – insert my mama anxiety here – but it turns out that ANY type of water works wonders. So we've stopped pretty much at every fountain, pool and pond we could find to ensure fun times.

How have you been celebrating summer?

EVERYBODY KEEP COOL

Summer is here and what a scorcher with temperatures soaring to 29 degrees. Our weekend was full of sandy feet, iced coffees, belly laughs, girly gossip, swimming shorts, suntan lotion, shaded blankets and the alluring blue water of St Andrews Park. The boys all happily splashing around. The perfect way to keep cool.
