I always wondered what it would be like living as a family of four. How I would be able to divide my love between two children and how the new family dynamics would work? Well as it turns out this little maths puzzle was quickly resolved when our new daughter, Romi, came along and I realised – probably as most parents do – that it's a simple multiplication rather than division sum.
Everything doubles! The size of my heart seemed to swell and the love I have for both my beautiful kiddos just seems to grow each day. So with Felix having a few concerns about how the attention would work now that our new little resident has moved in, and me still in a loved up baby bubble, I thought it would be fun to celebrate our new normal this Valentines.
This year notonthehighstreet are inspiring you to #lovethoughtfully and to give a little love to all those you love and I knew exactly how I wanted to show mine.
By nature I am a huge hearts and flowers type of girl, cheesy I know. As a child I would watch in awe the grand romantic 'sweep you off your feet' gestures in films believing this to be true love, and every Valentines my dad would send me a 'anonymous' card so I always had the excitement of a mystery admirer. Was it all about the wall of red hearts and kisses of the Clinton Card shop and sheer overwhelmed look of last minute shoppers, hand clutching the Forever Friends plush bear? The teenage me would probably say yes.
Even though I'm still a huge romatic at heart nowadays it's more about finding romance in the busy day to day, like your other half painstakingly peeling off the pith of an orange before offering you a segment as he knows you hate it *now that's love people* or booking a romantic date night and springing you with a perfect cinema / pizza combo after a stressful week! *swoon*
As most of you know we've been waiting a long time for this beautiful rainbow baby of ours and now she's here I want Romi & Felix to know how much we love them. So what better way to celebrate our new normal than snuggling up in bed and just take it all in. I picked up a few things that I thought would celebrate my new little family and make that cosy cuppa in bed that little bit special.
To celebrate Romi's arrival and her little space we've created for her (another post on this soon) I chose this gorgeous Good Morning Beautiful print, perfect for my rainbow baby, and this cute welcome to world Personalised baby feather filled balloon. As I'm still rocking the post labour look, think squidgy belly engorged boobs and constant breast feeding, I picked this super comfy PJ Mamma set, made especially cuter with matching newborn onsie!
To make sure no one was left out I chose these cute 'My Love' bff twinning tshirts for Felix and Paul, they are soooo cute and perfect for this inseparable duo! I think I'm going to order a mini one for Romi and I too. Felix was so happy to 'complete' his daddy's heart *heart officially bursting here*.
Everyone knows that the first few weeks/months with a newborn can be tough, what with all the sleepless nights and new routines, so I thought these 'Let's Stick Together' Cactus Biscuits and Good Morning My Love mug served on the cutest Pink Blushing Heart Party Plates would add a romantic twist to our morning and show Paul my appreciation, even if Felix did manage to eat most of the biscuits!
The last few weeks have been a whole lot of change and challenges but mostly I'm grateful to show my little family all the love.
You can find a whole range of personalised gifts to treat those you love this Valentines all from notonthehighstreet. Who would you show you love this Valentines? #lovethoughtfully.
