We have long been fans of Bristol Zoo gardens, mainly because it was life line when I had an active toddler, what with the secure playground, endless wildlife and a big green space to picnic with friends. We were firm members until the kiddo started school and we found it tricky to squeeze in a visit in our over-scheduled weekends. So when the lovely #BlogClub got together a group of bloggers for a night at Bristol Zoo as part of their Friday Twilight event, Felix was the first to say yes!
Bristol Zoo are running fab Friday nights at the zoo, full of music, good food, entertainment on the lawn and a chance to hear and see the animals as the sun starts to fade, Perfect for a wild night out and something a little bit different. Actually there were lottos couples on date night as well as lots of excited kids
We started with a fun tour and some interesting facts, and Felix was so excited being out late AND being in one of his favourite places! It was lovely to see his face light up especially when he saw the Dinomania trail.
We ended our animal encounter with a fabulous feast in the new Hyde Restaurant, with its gorgeous interior design concept. We all tried a range of dishes and I was really impressed with the quality, plus felix was in heaven with his ‘decorate your own ice cream box’ – cue him not going to sleep until 10pm that night, mama fail ha!
The best thing about the evening was the entrance price of only £5, making it perfect for us being non-members making it super affordable to visit Bristol Zoo, especially when bringing the kiddos!
In fact we had such a good time that we headed straight back for a full day of zoo fun on Sunday and I’ve been swayed to renew my membership for summer holidays.
I left on Friday night with a super happy Felix and his new tiny seal plush toy, and fun catching up with so many lovely blogging buddies.
OUTDOOR CINEMA
One event we won’t be missing this year is the Outdoor Cinema on the 29th July. We’ve been nearly every year and watched classics like the Goonies, Jurassic Park and more while chilling on the lawn surrounded by the wildlife, enjoying popcorn, drinks and the outdoor BBQ. Can you tell I’m a huge fan of outdoor cinema. This year they have two classic films to run alongside the giant animatronic dinosaurs dotted around the zoo. This year is set to be another fab film night out with two iconic blockbusters: The Lion King and Back to the Future.

It looks like you had a beautiful evening for it! Bristol Zoo has been a firm favourite in our family for decades but I've not seen the cinema thing before - what an ace idea!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun - what a good-value day (or evening) out! x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic way to spend a Friday evening! My girls would be in HEAVEN here. I have many happy memories of trips to Bristol Zoo as a kid and then, later, working there during my uni holidays. It sounds like it's come on leaps and bounds since my day though - Silent Cinema sounds amazing too!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool idea! Its great value as well isn't it? Wish we lived closer, I would definitely be visiting. Amanda (The Ana Mum Diary)
ReplyDeleteErrrr...coolest zoo ever! Love this - and I know Levi would too. He and Felix would be two peas in a pod, and that food looks incredible too. Such a lovely experience and good thinking renewing that pass! x
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of spending a relaxed evening there, letting the kids run around. It's strange because I am not keen on Zoo's in general but Bristol Zoo grounds are beautiful and kids love it there. Also they have great links with conservation and put on ace events like these twilight nights
