Fancy a factory tour? Well if one of the most iconic British Furniture brands,
ercol, invites you for a behind the scenes tour to see some of your favourite pieces being crafted from scratch, then the answer is hell yes! Even if it means getting up at 5.30am and donning a high vis vest.
If you are a lover of product and Interior design then there's no doubt that you will have heard of ercol, a household name in 1950s and '60s, this brand has been creating stylish pieces of English furniture since 1920 and are still paving the way for innovative design.

I was lucky enough to attend the annual Open House at ercol headquarters in Princes Risborough, for a behind the scenes tour of their sustainable factory, and check out their new collection with members of the press and some of my fave interior bloggers. The factory alone is pretty impressive and I was surprised at how many ancient handcrafted techniques were still used in the manufacturing process, you haven't seen anything until you
watch someone lasso sand a piece of wood into a chair leg!

Ercol was founded in 1920 by Young Italian designer, Lucian Ercolani, or the "Old Man" as he is affectionately referred to in the company, and still remains family owned with grandson, Edward Tadros at the helm. Their philosophy to remain at the forefront of international innovative furniture design is clear. It may sounds like a weird thing to get excited about but when you're investing in a piece of furniture it really makes a difference seeing the passion and story behind it, not to mention the immense skill that goes into crafting each individual piece.

Before diving into the showroom we were walked around the bustling factory floor, and watched on as each small station focused on making the best choices when it came to wood, grain and technique, that all goes into one beautifully designed Ercol Piece.

ONES TO WATCH ERCOL AUTUMN 2017

ercol Salina range |
Apart from some of the design classics I remember sitting on as a child and my Nans house, I loved the new ranges that will be available in dining, bedroom, and living range in shops in Autumn 2017.

ercol Salina bedroom range and original collection Love Seat |
My top three choices have to be the pale ash with white wash
Amelia chair which is modern with a touch of mid-century feel. The
Salina double bed with upholstered headboard in the same pale white washed finish and the
Novoli Dining range, featuring exposed dovetail joints in muted Scandi tones. Also I am swooning over the Nest Large Sofa with steam bent Beech frame!!
Or you can shop the
ercol originals here, such as the Love seat.
Are you a ercol fan? I'd love to hear what you thought of the brand.
*A huge thanks to ercol for inviting me to their factory for a behind the scenes tour and a wonderful lunch. All words and opinions are my own.
Swooning over all the furniture- this is fascinating Lori xxx
ReplyDeleteI adore Ercol - it's one of my favourite furniture brands, like, ever. We have Ercol dining chairs and I'm desperate for a few more pieces too. This looks like such an interesting day - I'd have been in my element!
