This week I had the pleasure off attending a fab interior blogger event held in the Shangri-la Hotel at The Shard in London with Rooms Made For You and a lovely bunch of ladies. I always enjoy trips to London and try to squeeze as many in as possible after moving the South West, it's great to dip my toes into the hectic buzz of the big smoke and I always leave feeling that little bit more inspired, which is exactly what happened yesterday...

I travelled up a day early as I had work planned in London, and decided treat myself to coffee with a view at the Duck & Waffle with Fritha, I would certainly recommend it. After a coffee refuel we wandered around the corner to the small but perfect Soup Du Jour for a spot of lunch. Tucked away behind a steamed up glass entrance is a world full of food goodness, with brightly coloured organic soups are served with a range of toppings and delicious German Bread. Apart from the staple classics there is also a daily soup – hence the name – which is just as tasty. I tried The Carrot, The Tomato and The Chicken before admitting defeat to my full and happy tummy.
After meeting up with Lottie for drinks and a snooze in Belsize Park, I woke afresh for some fun at Shangri-La Hotel in The Shard. The hotel oozes excellence with beautiful interior finishes and impeccable service. Enjoyed a croissant and jam in their ground floor cafe, where I could easily have people watched all day and would love to return to try the Gong cocktail lounge on the 52nd floor. As we had our bags x-rayed – yep that happened – and entered the lift to climb to the 34th floor I was excited for not only the views, decadence and company but also the interior inspiration.
We learnt about three fabulous products by Rooms Made For You which will certainly revolutionise your interiors, allowing your home to grow with you and create endless possibilities. The first product that caught my attention is the Thistle Magnetic Plaster, a unique plaster which you can apply to your walls in a 3-5mm skin which attracts magnets. Imagine how much fun this would be, having a wall that is completely flexible and you can change as you please. This would be perfect in a home office or kids bedroom.
We had a chance to create our own magnets as part of a workshop which was so much fun and F loved the magnets I made for him to use at home, he's already using the peg and car to collect barcodes for sticker book.
I also loved learning about the Lifestyle wall and had fun testing it out with other bloggers in a plasterboard 'screw off'. This innovative product will raise the bar when it comes to building standards and interior design, whether you're: fixing shelves, curtain poles, picture hooks or even attaching TVs into place, you can simply screw straight into the wall surface, without any need for drills or specialist fixings. This give you more freedom allowing you to decorate and style as you please, with minimal impact to the wall and in the safe knowing that all your fixtures are securely attached. I loved how interior designer Becky Clarke styled this above photo, showing how to create an organised kitchen using only screws in the Lifestyle wall.
Before we enjoyed a tasty lunch and said our farewells with a bag full of goodies, we got to sample the ingenious Silent Floor which has enhanced sounds installation cancelling out most noises. All I could think after listening to the demo is 'why do we not have this in our flat?' All those mornings where F decided on a 6am drumming session or to play superhero's/jumping off the sofa, creating those early Sunday morning crashes that I know our neighbours must love, Silent Floor you are our saviour!
I headed back to Bristol ready to be reunited with my boy and enjoy a macaroon and a cuppa, cosy on the sofa after my London adventure. Thanks Rooms Made For you for the inspiration!
