OH MY BABY DAYS

Normally I don't do #flashbackfriday, but as January draws to a close I am feeling nostalgic for those baby days. This weekend I am managing a stall at a nearly new sale – for those who don't know, it's a stall to sell off your baby goods to new expectant mamas – so in preparation we spent a good few hours going through all the things we've kept over the last few years, and boy what a lot of stuff. I didn't quite realise how much I'd been hoarding, partly incase we'd had a another child and partly because I didn't want to let go of F's baby days.

But a baby he is not. In fact I'm struggling to call him a toddler as he bounds so quickly into boyhood. Those moments where I catch his thoughtful expressions or taking it upon himself to set the table are the ones that cause a lump in my throat. So small, yet oh so big. I can see him growing before my eyes, ever changing, for these are glimpses of the man he will become and it makes me ache for this small boy. So let me cherish his embraces, as I know they'll not be so freely given in years to come.

  1. Such gorgeous photos! My boy is 6, also an F. The growing up process is bittersweet isn't it? My F has decided he doesn't like kisses, still happy to be cuddled though. Oh how I hope he doesn't start to think that cuddles from his mum are babyish. Growing up so fast! Lucy x

    1. F names are the best ;) Oh I don't think I bear it when the day comes that he doesn't want a kiss. I'm going to be that crazy mama at the school gate chasing for a hug :) x

    1. You totally can, right? A lot of my friends said that he was like an old man who had been here before with those eyes, and I still believe it. x

  4. Aww, such cute piccies! Yes, embrace the cuddles as my 8 year old boy is at the 'don't you DARE hug me in public' stage at the moment :(

  5. Such lovely photos. It is crazy how quickly the time flies by, J is ten months already and soon will be a toddler instead of baby. Although if I'm perfectly honest he has been a pretty moany baby, cried so much, I'm looking forward to him being over that phase. I know I will be so broody again next year though, I get little bouts of it now. But then I think I will get that no matter how many kids I have x

    1. wow ten months, I can hardly remember what that was like now he's three. Definitely a good reason to start trying for the next one ;) I hope the next phase is less tearful for J x
