From chimpanzees to rattlesnakes, For Just One Day will delight the youngest of minds. The vibrant and classic styled illustrations show each child imagining themselves as an animal – a boy with skipping rope pretends to be a monarch butterfly, while a girl with unruly hair pretends she is a porcupine. The simple rhythmic song-like story, builds suspense before each page is turned and the child's animal is revealed. And even though we sometimes wish to be someone or something else we're not, this charming story is concluded with the use of a small mirror, reinforcing that the best thing to be is yourself.

finally getting round to sitting down and catching up with a cup of tea, I always love your posts! I think we have very similar taste in the books and illustrations we go for but I love that each time I discover a book I have never heard of before and know I must add to our collection! xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying them :) I just went and bought a shirley hughes book after seeing your post, I forgot how good they were! Kids books are a passion of mine, our flat is bursting with them xx
