Normally F is great at expressing how he feels and describing his emotions, but recently he has been getting frustrated and loosing his temper – whether it's his coat zipper getting stuck, puzzle pieces not fitting, being told not to climb on the table – basically anything can trigger it and the reactions can range from a stamping of feet to shouting, and the occasional physical lash out. For now I'm not worried as he's always been a super chilled kid, very gentle and kind to others. Currently I'm putting this behaviour down to a development leap mixed with his wanting to be more independent.
So when I saw this DIY Face from Mr Printables I had to share it with you. This great craft activity is perfect for teaching kids a range of emotions and also fun to make with these super easy instructions, not to mention how cool it looks. They say that teaching emotional intelligence to your child is the key to a happy adult so I'm hoping that this might help F be able to explain his frustrations and help me understand what's going on that head of his.

ReplyDeleteThere's so many goodies on this site! Enjoy x
Deletelove Mr Printables and really like the idea of helping him show his emotions through something like this. Wilf's tantrums are pretty easy to work out, it's either tiredness or hunger every time! xx
ReplyDeleteBless Wilf! It seem like ages ago that I could pin F's moods onto those two things. I'll have to show the faces we made on Instagram soon x
DeleteThis is brilliant! And could be very useful for Cherry at the moment, she is in the midst of the terrible three's and her mood changes every ten minutes! x
ReplyDeleteI hear you with the mood swings, it's hard to keep up! x
DeleteThis is a great idea! I will have to try it out once my daughter is old enough to understand.
ReplyDeleteThere's so many good things on Mr Printables, I hope you enjoy having a look through. I bet your daughter will love playing with this x

ReplyDeleteSo glad you like it and thanks for sharing! x
DeleteWhat a great idea! I think kids generally struggle to work out how they're feeling and be able to put it into words (as do us adults sometimes!).
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly helping F describe how he's feeling more, although not so great when you're three year old tells you you're annoying ;) x
DeleteAwesome! I need to go and look at Mr Printables now!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! You might be there some time x
DeleteOh my they are fantastic - I think even if I felt grumpy after playing with those I would have a smile on my face ;) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it, we certainly feel happy when we've played with ours x
DeleteWhat a fantastic idea. So useful to help children express their emotions
ReplyDeleteF is loving this activity and it's definitely coming in handy x
DeleteThis is brilliant, I love it!! Although my 2 year old seems permanently grumpy at the moment so that would be hard - to have to look at 2 grumpy faces!! I think it's great though and I love the patterns in the detail of the face!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard when they get grumpy as it does dictate how you're day is going to go. Hopefully there'll be more smiley faces than frowns with this one x
DeleteOh I love it, expressing emotion is so difficult for children and also knowing its OK to have the feelings, like anger, jealousy and not feel they are 'bad'. Love the plate idea!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's so true not to label those emotions as bad or negative, and that it all about using our full range of emotions to be balanced and emotionally healthy x
DeleteOh what a brilliant idea...will keep this in mind for when Bee is a bit older
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you like x

DeleteNever heard of Mr Printables - this is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like x
DeleteWhat a great idea! I think it must be difficult for even the most articulate child to express their emotions all the time. Even most adults have difficulties from time to time!
ReplyDeleteSo true! Hopefully this will give F some useful tools to use when he's older x
DeleteOne of my favourite Mr. Printables projects too! Thanks for sharing ^^
