A GOOD BOOK // How To Hide A Lion

We're a huge fan of Helen Stephens and How to Hide a Lion is certainly a firm favourite of F's; the beautiful illustrations are fresh and colourful, yet timeless in style and brings the story alive.

We stumbled upon this book whilst visiting my mother-in-law in Leeds. We wandered into the local library and were immediately struck by the architecture and bulbous Tuscan columns stretching up from the ground. F's eye's widened in delight as he saw the children's section and he quickly set off to choose some rainy day books.

I watched him flicking through different picture books with an intense concentration on his face. My mother-in-law retold the story of my husband searching through the books with the same expression and in this same library as a child. I was standing on the spot that she had once stood with her little boy, all that potential and possibility stretching out before him and here I was doing the same for this little boy. I welled up as he bounded towards me grasping this book in his hands.
