FAMILY FUN AT DAVID LLOYD

Summer in the city can be tricky, especially when the latest heat wave had temperatures soaring above 30 degrees, leaving us all a little frazzled! So our trial family membership to David Lloyd, a leisure and fitness club, gave us the perfect way to cool off and make one kiddo a very happy boy.

We were invited to try out the facilities on offer at David Lloyd and apart from jumping at the chance to dive into their impressive outdoor pool and lounge by the side while flicking through the pages of a good book, I was so impressed with the full range of family activities that David Lloyd has to offer.

In all honesty I've never really been that sporty, opting for the occasional run and a burst of enthusiasm for getting fit every now and again, but Felix has grown a sudden interest in football, tennis, swimming and... well practically anything that involves burning energy, leaving me a little burnt out trying to keep up!

I had never thought about a family membership to a gym, all those years in my 20's where a gym membership burned a hole in my purse as I avidly avoided working out had put me off until now but the family facilities at David Lloyd are really impressive! The soft play activity centre in the cafe means they can go wild while you sip your coffee and get ten minutes of you time and the fun iPads are handily equipped with the kiddo's current Lego obsession, and that's just in the cafe!

There is a full timetable of various games, crafts and sport activities for all ages with the DL kids programme, as well as the three pools to keep them entertained and fab tennis courts (both indoors and out) and I can't wait to get Felix started on the Tennis All Stars programme.

I loved our first day there, he enjoyed socialising and having fun and I got to try out a yoga class followed by a quiet swim before getting back in the pool with my wild child. I can already see his confidence growing when it comes to swimming, and it's something we have been trying to nurture for a while, so I'm thrilled that we can do this regularly.

We've already been back three times since we got our six month membership and I'm definitely keen to try out the full range of family activities, plus the kids club is perfect for summer holidays so I can catch up on work while he's having a blast.

I'm going to be sharing some of our experiences with you over the next six months so you can see what we get up to and what we love the most, and if you fancy trying your own family membership you find out more about what's on offer at David Lloyds here.

*We were offer a six month Family Membership at David Lloyd Leisure Club in exchange for an honest review. All words and opinions are our own.
