GET SUMMER READY WITH A MINI GARDEN MAKEOVER

With temperatures set to sizzle over 30C next week as a heat wave hits the UK, it looks like the summer switch has finally been flicked on. This can only mean one thing... it's time to get summer ready with a mini garden makeover. I'm still longing for a cool courtyard to call my own and enjoy with friends on dusky evenings, but as we rent our flat and mainly use the surrounding green areas as our *not so private* lawn, I decided to spruce up the next best outdoor space, my mama's garden and create a little haven at home so we could all enjoy the warm weather.
Making the most of any outdoor space is a top priority for me with any hint of summer heading our way, and I thought it would be a lovely idea to revamp a little unused corner of my parents garden and show how even the smallest of spaces can be turned into a lounge outdoors.

My parents house is set on the edge of a small village surrounded by rolling fields of wild flowers, and the front of their house is bathed in light throughout the day. There is a small shingle space that awkwardly sits in front of the side return that runs along the side of the house, which I knew would look perfect with some stylish seating.

*Tip: Check any unused space as it can easily be transformed into the perfect retreat with a little imagination.

I picked out these Jakarta retro style outdoor garden furniture pieces as I love the style of the chairs and the seat oozes comfort. I chose the slate grey cushions to compliment the chocolate weave and it gives the space a chic hotel feel while the table doubles up as a magazine rack. Plus all three pieces are waterproof making them ideal for our British interchangeable weather. mini garden, outdoor spaces, courtyard, garden furniture mini garden, outdoor spaces, courtyard, garden furniture, asda garden furniture

We used a small potted plant to edge the shingle and laid the table with some fresh fruit, water and of course coffee. I used one chair and the table for this look but the space can hold two chairs for when my folks want to hang out together in the morning. It just goes to show that any small unused space can by spruced up to create a breakfast nook outdoors or a shady space to read. Check out these mini outdoors spaces for some inspiration.

My folks were thrilled with their little surprise and mum promptly made herself comfortable and took a magazine outside to relax, I had to wrestle the kiddo for the other seat though ;) Safe to say the furniture set looks great and the mini graden makeover inspiration has already got them heading off to the garden centre.
