Do you like spooky adventures with curious creatures? Given as a gift for F's second birthday, this good book is still going strong in our house.
The Great Snortle Hunt is one of those perfect kids books with just the right mix of friendship, adventure, spooky houses, monsters and rhyme. The fun, quirky and detailed illustrations capture your child's imagination while the soothing rhythmic words acts as a lullaby when read aloud at bedtime. Each page has it's own unique style whether it be comic strip or bold imagery and text placement. F knows this story so well that he can now finish every line of the book and gets excited in anticipation of each page turn. So with evidence suggesting that a familiarity with rhymes help children detect phonetic constituents of words, leaving them well equipped for learning to read, then this is a must have on my list.
